Eli Lilly is Suing Empower. What’s Really at Stake.

Empower is committed to expanding access to quality, affordable medications – personalized for every patient – so people can live healthier, happier lives.

Last week, Eli Lilly sued Empower.

At its core, this lawsuit is about more than us. It’s about Big Pharma testing its power, challenging healthcare companies like Empower who prioritize personalized, affordable care over profit. It’s Big Pharma’s attempt to limit patient and provider choice and restrict access to individualized treatment.

This lawsuit brings to light a critical divide in healthcare:

  • Traditional healthcare is reactive, one-size-fits-all, and driven by shareholder profits.
  • Personalized healthcare is proactive, tailored to each individual, and focused on long-term health.

Mass-produced commercial drugs are the backbone of the traditional healthcare system. Compounded medications, customized for individual needs, threaten their model. That’s the real reason for the lawsuit: life-changing compounded medicines empower patients and providers with better, more personalized options, directly challenging Big Pharma’s role in the world.

At Empower, patients come first. Ensuring they and their providers have access to the best treatment options for their unique needs is the foundation on which we were built.  We have and always will lead by example, pioneering solutions and broadening treatment options as champions of patient access. Our compounded medicines, including GLP-1s, show that commitment and are available from our 503A pharmacy with a valid prescription.

We stand by our mission, and the patients and providers who depend on it.
