Shaun’s Start as a Founder/Pharmacy Tech
As the featured guest, Shaun Noorian talks about how he built Empower Pharmacy from the ground up. In addition to managing business operations during the day, Shaun was the company’s first pharmacy tech, assisting in fulfilling prescriptions when Empower Pharmacy started. He worked with a licensed pharmacist to fill prescriptions from the back of a doctor’s office.
Since its genesis, Empower has pursued the goal of providing accessible medications to patients and providers while encouraging staff growth and inciting positive change.
The Role of Pharmacy Technicians in Compounding
“Pharmacy technicians are the backbone of pharmacies,” Shaun mentions. Having firsthand experience as a pharmacy technician, Shaun understands the vital role pharmacy techs have in fulfilling prescription services.
As a compounding pharmacy, Empower relies heavily on pharmacy technicians for accurate and efficient prescription handling.
Unlike in traditional settings, pharmacy techs offer more than pill counting and restocking at a compounding pharmacy. They manage and operate technology to ensure the safety of medication dispensing.
He goes on to tell how many employees started at Empower as pharmacy technicians and developed into becoming leaders at the company. One example of this is the current head of manufacturing. He, too, started at Empower as a pharmacy technician.

Accident or Fate?
Empower’s start is an unusual one. What began as an accidental work injury turned into the origins of the most cutting-edge compounding facilities in the world.
