Edgar Gonzalez Leads Empower’s Expansion and Legal Operations

In a remarkable year of growth and achievement, Edgar Gonzalez, the Vice President – Deputy General Counsel and interim general counsel at Empower, has successfully navigated the company through significant expansion and legal challenges.

Formerly a secondment lawyer, Gonzalez was promoted to his current role in October 2023. His leadership has been instrumental in overseeing Empower’s acquisition of Eugia’s manufacturing site in New Jersey. This acquisition is intended to bolster the company’s capabilities by establishing a 503B outsourcing facility, enabling the production of compound medications on a larger scale.

Gonzalez has been vital in integrating Eugia’s workforce into Empower’s operations, fostering a collaborative partnership that will drive the success of the new facility. His legal expertise has been invaluable in navigating the complex licensing process, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and overseeing the hiring and training of new staff.

With a background in both science and law, Gonzalez brings a unique perspective to his role at Empower. Prior to joining the company, he functioned as a research chemist at Houston Baptist University. Later, Gonzalez pursued a legal career, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard Judge Advocate General’s Corps. His experience as a litigator at Patterson + Sheridan LLP has equipped him with the skills necessary to handle a wide range of legal matters.
