Director of Quality Named APC Fellow

Article Summary

Stephanie Chacon, Empower Pharmacy’s Quality Director, was honored as an APC Fellow for her commitment to pharmacy compounding excellence. With a career spanning from technician to quality management roles, Stephanie's leadership embodies dedication to industry standards and professional growth.

Congratulations to Empower Pharmacy’s Director of Quality, Stephanie Chacon, who was recently inducted as a Fellow of the Alliance for Pharmacy Compounding (APC) at its annual Compounders on Capitol Hill event on September 14, 2022, in Washington, D.C.

One of the first pharmacy technicians to receive this honor, Stephanie started her career in 2009 as a sterile and nonsterile compounding technician. In 2012, Stephanie transitioned into a quality and compliance manager role in reaction to the New England Compounding Center tragedy – a fungal meningitis outbreak that affected patients around the U.S. and led to the Drug Quality and Security Act of 2013. She then earned her Master of Science in regulatory affairs and quality assurance from Temple University and started working for Empower as Director of Quality in 2021.

She has been a member of APC — the trade association representing the pharmacy compounding industry — for over eight years. Stephanie is currently serving her second term on its board of directors and also co-chairs its Technician Services Committee. She is a member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) as well.

Stephanie hopes to show other technicians at Empower that they can grow a career and have a positive impact on the industry and the patients we serve. Her advice to them: “You are not ‘just a technician’! Work hard, seek out new information and knowledge, and learn from your peers when you can. Don’t limit yourself!”

APC Fellows meet stringent requirements designed to demonstrate their commitment to patient care through quality pharmacy compounding and the highest ethical and professional standards. The APC Fellows Program honors pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who exhibit the highest level of expertise and dedication to the practice of pharmacy compounding. Including Stephanie, APC inducted 13 new members to its Fellows Program in 2022, read more on APC’s website.

Congratulations on your achievement, Stephanie!
